On their Twitter account, Xiaomi has been teasing their upcoming Mi 9 a lot! And by a lot, we mean at least seven updates per day starting with this weekend. Considering the smartphone will be launched in China on 20 February, the teasing will continue today and tomorrow. The global launch event will take place on 24 February in Barcelona at MWC.
What about the camera setup, which comes with three lenses and a whopping 48 MP? Let’s see the official specs right from Xiaomi.
Xiaomi Mi 9 Camera Specs and Features
The triple camera setup on the back will come with a 48 MP camera with f/1.75 aperture. The lens will support pixel binning and combine the data from 4 pixels into one in 12MP shots – a feature which Xiaomi calls – 4-in-1 Super Pixel. The 6-element lens configuration and 0.8 microns pixel size will merge in 1.6 microns for the 12MP shots.
The other two lens on the camera setup is a 16MP ultra wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and 1.0 microns pixel size. The wide angle has a 117-degree field of view, and it also supports 4cm macro shots, which means you can focus subjects that are at a 4cm distance from the subject, compared with general abilities of smartphone’s cameras – which is focusing an object as close as 10 cm.
The third camera in the rear camera setup is the telephoto lens which comes with 12MP, f/2.2 aperture, 1.0-micron pixel size, and a 6-element lens setup for clear shots in 2X optical zoom.
A feature Xiaomi claims to have introduced is the closed loop Voice Coil Motor (VCM) in the three lenses which means a faster focusing speed compare to the open loop VCM, reported the Indian Express.
The selfie camera comes with a 20MP camera and AI beauty features.
Other Key Features
As for other features, Xiaomi announced the Mi 9 to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, which is the first phone that gets to run this chip. Moreover, Mi 9 could be 5G ready!
The Mi 9 will come in three versions with different storage and RAM options: 6 GB RAM + 128 GB internal storage, 8 GB RAM + 128 GB internal storage, and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB internal storage.
You’ll be able to grab a Xiamo Mi 9 in blue and purple color options that feature a “holographic illusion” effect thanks to the “nano-level laser engraving holographic technology + dual layer nano coating,” wrote the Xiaomi Senior Vice President, Wang Xiang, on his Twitter account.
