Many devices including the Samsung Galaxy S9 are finally getting the Android Pie update. Because of that, we have also gotten some clues regarding what we should expect from Samsung this year.
Android Pie is also known as Android 9 or Android P, and it is out for Google devices.
Customers are getting worried due to the slow roll-out of the Android 9.0 Pie and Android 8.0 Oreo on Samsung S9 devices. However, Samsung is only releasing the update to flagships in the beginning.
Samsung Galaxy Oreo Update Roll Out
Samsung is focused on providing its devices with the Oreo update. There are still devices which run on Android Nougat which’s update was released months after its official launch.
The update finally came to the Samsung Galaxy S9, as the company did not finish receiving security patch updates once in a while. This means that the update is still being resolved by Samsung.
Will this also happen with the Android Pie update?
At the moment, many flagships are still on Android Oreo 8 or Android Oreo 8.1. Some sources suggest that these devices will get an update directly to Pie without any update in between.
Awaited January Update for Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9
Updates to Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9 series will be released by Samsung with a security update package. Android Pie would be included in this package alongside with a security improvement.
Some mid-range phone will only receive the security patch update and not the Android Pie too. That will come afterward.
Samsung Galaxy A series, Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9 series will get their Android Pie updates this month. Mid-range-phone owners will have to wait for a little more this time around.
