NASA has recently announced the appointment of Rhega Gordon as the center chief financial officer for NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, that’s placed in Huntsville, Alabama.
Gordon will have to oversee the implementation and administration of all the integrated Marshall and NASA financial management, which means that she will have to deal with all the aspects of programming, planning, the execution processes and also the budget. Let’s not mention the distribution of financial resources, as well.
Rhega Gordon started her career at NASA in 1991
Before this happened, Gordon was the deputy center CFO since 2013, but her job there started in January, since the retirement of Marshall CFO William Hicks. Before this, Gordon was the manager of the Planning and Control Office in Marshall’s Flight Programs. She had to deal with the payload systems. She began her career at NASA in 1991, as an engineer in Marshall’s Ground Systems Department.
She is from Athens, Alabama and she earned her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. While her stay at NASA from the beginning, she got various awards and honors, such as the NASA Exceptional Service Medal, which she got for amazing leadership as manager of the Planning and Control Office. She also got NASA Distinguished Performance Award for the execution of science and mission resources, and for the best collab with numerous engineering organizations. In total, she got 12 special service awards and 10 group achievement awards.
In 2002, she got the name of Space Flight Awareness Launch Honoree. Rhega Gordon has two kids and lives with her husband, Orlando “Fritz” Gordon in Madison, Alabama.
