In its quest for exclusive content for its future online video service, Apple has hit a big deal. Deadline reports that the tech giant will produce original programs in the universe of Peanuts . An agreement has been signed between Apple and DHX Media, Peanuts Worlwide’s parent company.
If we do not necessarily release all the production contracts signed by Apple to obtain TV programs, this particular partnership is worthy of interest because of the popularity of the characters of the Peanuts : Charlie Brown, Linus, Sally Brown, Woodstock, and of course the taciturn dog Snoopy.
These creations signed Charles M. Schultz are in all memories, since the 50s. Apple will finance a new series, specials and short films. Starting with an educational program in collaboration with NASA, staging a Snoopy astronaut.
This partnership is part of a context in which streaming services are shelling out production rights. Netflix has recently signed an agreement with The Roald Dahl Story Company for animated series based on Roald Dahl’s children’s books ( Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , James and the Big Peach, etc)
