In an exclusive essay to MarieClaire.com, Canadian Prime Minister says Canadian parents need to teach their young boys how to be feminist.
“our sons have the power and the responsibility to change our culture of sexism,” Trudeau said expressing Canadians need to raise their sons as feminists.
Trudeau thinks himself of being the face of feminism for men in Canada.
In March Trudeau told a United Nations in New York, “I’m going to keep saying loud and clearly that I am a feminist until it is met with a shrug.”
Trudeau says in the essay his sons need particular kind of masculine.
“I want my sons to escape the pressure to be a particular kind of masculine that is so damaging to men and to the people around them. I want them to be comfortable being themselves, and being feminists—who stand up for what’s right, and who can look themselves in the eye with pride.”
He said to raise our children to be feminist, they have the power to shape the world.
“That’s the world we want to live in. That’s the world we want our kids to live in. To raise our kids feminist is to recognize that they ALL have a part to play to build that world. To raise our kids feminist is to honor their future, because they have the responsibility—and the power—to shape it for the better.”
Trudeau claimed to be a feminist even before his election, but the opposition criticized him for doing so, and in some cases saying he’s a fake feminist.
