Toronto Police are searching for Zion Sankar-Beharry, 20, for Yorkdale Shopping Centre shooting

Canadians were in shock when they heard news of a shooting that took place in a busy mall in Toronto.

The Yorkdale Shopping Centre was evacuated Thursday following the shooting where two people suffered minor injuries.

Toronto Police released the following statement:

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance with a Discharge Firearm with Intent investigation.

On Thursday, August 30, 2018, at approximately 2:50 p.m., police were called for a Sound of Gunshots at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, 3401 Dufferin Street.

It is alleged that:

– two groups of males had an altercation

– two shots were fired

Zion Sankar-Beharry, 20, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1) Discharge Firearm with Intent

It is further alleged that:

– on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at 5 p.m., he was last seen in the Warden Avenue and Steeles Avenue East area

He is considered armed and dangerous. If located, do not approach. Call 9-1-1 immediately.
