No terrorism-related charges have been laid [at the time of writing this] for Abdulahi Hasan Sharif, 30, who conducted an act of terrorism in Edmonton late Saturday night.
Sharif rammed into a police officer throwing him 15 feet into the air injuring him, the car he was driving had a ISIS flag visible inside the windshield.
Two hours later the man drove a cube van U-Haul down Japer Avenue intending to kill people in his path, four people were injured during the second incident.
Abdulahi Hasan Sharif has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, four counts of criminal flight causing bodily harm, dangerous driving and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, said the RCMP today at a news conference.
Reporters asked why he wasn’t charged with terrorism-related offences, “The complexities of a terrorism investigation are vast. If warranted, further charges will be pursued.” RCMP Supt. Stacy Talbot said at the news conference.
As of right now terrorism charges are pending.
