Alberta man seriously injured from machete attack

A man from Springbrook Alberta is in the hospital after getting attacked by three people, two men and one woman after stopping on the side of the road.

The man was on a date with a woman he met online when he pulled over near the Red Deer airport, a vehicle had been following them and pulled up behind them.

The three attackers had a machete and a shotgun, the man was able to grab the shotgun while getting slashed by the machete.

RCMP Cpl. Greg Crane said the man suffered defensive injuries.

The three attackers then stole the mans truck and sped off, the injured mans vehicle is a 2007 Black Dodge with plates BDR0343.

A witness called 911 and the man was taken to Red Deer hospital after the incident happened late Wednesday night.

Anyone who sees the vehicle or has information is asked to call Blackfalds RCMP at 403-885-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
